About NACO

NACO helps professionalize and grow Angel investment in Canada through education, connections, events, and research ensuring Canadian companies have access to critical early-stage funding.

 

The National Angel Capital Organization supports Angels as they help entrepreneurs turn good ideas into great businesses. As the only national industry association for Angel investors in Canada, NACO represents over 40 networks comprised of over 3000 Angel investors across Canada. Members assist Canadian startups in every region and industry to execute their vision and compete on the global stage by providing them with patient risk capital, expert advice, and professional networks when traditional financial and other institutions cannot.

By connecting individuals, groups, and other partners that support Angel-stage investing, NACO accelerates a thriving, early-stage investing ecosystem. NACO provides intelligence, tools, and resources for its members, facilitates key connections across networks, borders and industries, and helps to inform policy affecting the Angel asset-class.

Board of Directors

NACO's Board of Directors is selected from the membership and provides strategic leadership to the organization. The Board sets broad-based goals and supports the NACO team in achieving those goals through innovative solutions. What We Do

Industry Events

NACO works to connect our members and stakeholders through various means, but mainly by hosting and attending industry events and workshops. NACO has been hosting events for Angel investors since 2001. Our National Angel Summit is the largest event of the year, hosting approximately 200 to 300 individuals annually. This year, NACO is planning its biggest event yet, hosting over 500 attendees at the World Angel Investment Summit in Montreal from October 2 - 5, 2017. NACO also engages with its members by attending and sponsoring their events.

  • National Angel Summits

    Since 2001, our annual National Angel Summits have been the cornerstone event for Angel investors and other Angel community stakeholders. These events provide an excellent networking venue and regularly feature several internationally renowned guest speakers, each addressing the challenges and rewards for Angels as they transcend contemporary economic upheaval to realize future prosperity.
  • Co-Investment Summits

    Our Co-Investment Summits are a method for us to help coordinate and organize the Angel community and provide them with a way to better share and promote co-investment in businesses that are performing well but require additional funding.
  • Professional Development Workshops

    NACO, in partnership with the Angel Resource Institute (ARI), has developed and delivers a series of workshops designed to help Angel investors and other stakeholders improve returns from their investments. These workshops are held at our National Angel Summit, at scheduled times throughout the year, or by special request.

 

Professional Development

NACO offers a variety of Professional Development related tools for Angel investors. These tools, from seminars to online resources, are designed to assist Angel investors improve their investing skills and drive successful outcomes.

NACO supports its members to deliver professional development workshops by helping to organize and fund these events. NACO provides resources and pays for costs related to these events. When NACO is not taking a leading role in these events, it may otherwise support member events by coordinating sponsor funding and identifying expert panelists to participate.

Research

Smart investing requires more than just timely information - it requires real Angel intelligence. NACO works with its membership to collect and analyze primary industry data and produce research reports that provide stakeholders with information about the Canadian Angel community that may be used to inform the development of public policy and member best practices.

NACO holds various research initiatives for its members and stakeholders. From the annual Angel Investment Activity Report to various surveys conducted, these research initiatives are designed to inform NACO members and stakeholders about the Canadian Angel investing landscape and to assist NACO in serving its community better.

Programs

NACO works to with government departments and agencies to administer special programs and support Angel groups in expanding their presence and scope across the country. NACO members can apply for financial support to expand recruitment and investment and to receive special designation to participate in Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada's Startup Visa Program.
